Katerina threatens legal action
BEIJING: Greek sprinter Katerina Thanou has told the International Olympic Committee she would take legal action if it barred her from competing in the Beijing Olympics.
The IOC Executive Committee board will discuss Thanou’s eligibility to compete in Beijing, after she served a two-year ban following a missed drugs test before the Athens 2004 Games.
The Aug 2-3 board meeting is then followed by an IOC session, ending on the eve of the Games’ opening ceremony.
Katerina, 33, was banned until Dec 2006 and has only raced a handful of times since then but met the Beijing qualifying time and won inclusion in Greece’s Olympic team
