Le Tua unveil new signing Sulzberger
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s top cycling outfit, Le Tua, sprang a surprise when they unveiled Australian Bernard Sulzberger yesterday for the Tour of Langkawi, which will start on Saturday.
Sulzberger, 25, will act as the pacer for the team’s national sprinters like Anuar Manan, Ahmad Haidar Anuawar and Sayuti Zahit as they seek the first-ever stage win by a Malaysian rider in the Tour.
The other members of the team are Indonesian Tonton Susanto and reigning SEA Games road race champion Rian Ariehaan.
Le Tua team manager Shukor Yassin described Sulzberger as a strong rider whom the team has been monitoring since we first heard he was available in November.
“At first we were undecided, mainly because of the tight budget. But thanks to our good partners and supporters, we found a way to get his services.
“He is a rider with experience, having raced in Europe and at the top level of world cycling.
“His presence will certainly strengthen our challenge for the Asian category title.”
