Anuar sprints to victory again
BATU PAHAT: Le Tua’s Anuar Manan again showed that he is the best Malaysian sprinter in the Tour of Malaysia, winning the 163.8km Stage 3 from Bandar Hilir in Malacca to Batu Pahat yesterday.
It was double joy for the Terengganu-born cyclist when he also retained the blue jersey (sprint) after collecting another five points in sprint Zone 1 at Bukit Pasir in Muar for a total of 19 points.
Anuar gave it his all in the last 25 metres of the stage to beat Hossein Antechi (Tabriz Petrochemical) and Sergey Kudentsov (Trek Marco Polo).
“My team-mates worked very hard today to help me win the stage,” said Anuar, who clocked 3’55:35.
Li Fu Yu of the Trek Marco Polo team finished 15th to hang on to the red jersey (overall) with a total time of 11’15:39.
Amir Mustafa Rusli of MCF Malaysia retained the white jersey (best local rider) in 55th place, ahead of Mohd Fauzan Ahmad Lutfi.
